Here at Warrior NYC, we're about way more than just chiropractic treatments. We use a holistic approach that combines timeless medical techniques with cutting edge methods and equipment. We see ourselves as movement specialists—treating the whole person with a unique approach so that you can get back in the game & release the Warrior inside of you.
Chiropractic care is a safe & non-invasive way to treat joint pain, especially when it comes to the neck & lower spine areas. The word “chiropractic” literally translates as “to treat by hand” from its Latin origins.
Cupping is an alternative soft-tissue treatment technique that combines pressure & distraction around the area of injury. When there is an injury- there is pain. When there is pain- we move less. When we move less- the tissue gets tighter. When the tissue gets tighter- there is more pain & inflammation. Cupping helps to break this feedback loop and remove stagnation.
Muscle & soft-tissue is almost always overlooked as a source of discomfort & pain. At Warrior NYC, we are trained in top-of-the-line myofascial treatment techniques to ensure that your body works optimally.
Our physical therapy professionals are extensively trained to recognize, diagnose, & treat injuries. We are the movement experts.
Our Treatment Area Recognition and Guidance Enhanced Technology™ (TARGET) constantly scans and measures tissue for pain points and automatically gives the proper dosage of laser energy, allowing for more accurate treatment of pain, shorter treatment times and more satisfied patients
Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) also known as “McKenzie” is a system used to assess orthopedic disorders. It is one of the most well-researched methods of evaluation for pain in the spine and extremities. It is especially effective for people with radicular pain down the arms or legs. It is also extremely helpful for issues in the peripheral joints such as the hip, knee, ankle and shoulder.
McKenzie method helps practitioners to develop a specific & individualized home exercise program for each patient. This allows for better self-management of painful orthopedic conditions. During the evaluation we will assess several different movements over a few visits in an effort to decrease your pain and increased joint function. If you have been told that you need any type of invasive medical procedures MDT can help to screen you to see if those procedures need to be performed or not. Dr. Steve Pungello specializes in McKenzie techniques and is available at Warrior NYC to answer any questions or interest you have in working with a McKenzie practitioner.
Advanced Muscle Integration Technique (AMIT) is a systematic treatment of common joint and muscle conditions and is a revolutionary advancement in sports medicine. AMIT practitioners can predict and prevent injuries by examining and identifying instabilities in the body, which in most cases lead to injury and decreased performance. The developers of the AMIT system discovered that the leading cause of pain is inhibited muscles resulting from overuse or injury. Although the pain of the injury goes away over time, the functional imbalance remains. Eventually, these functional imbalances lead to chronic pain. By defining and correcting these imbalances, AMIT allows for rapid correction of instabilities, resulting in improved function, reduced pain and a higher level of performance.
When a muscle is overloaded beyond its ability to sustain the load, one of two things happen: the muscle fibers tear and/or the nervous system inhibits the muscle. This is done to protect the muscle from more severe injury. If the inhibited muscle is loaded again during physical activity, it will not be able to function appropriately to support the force applied and will be weak. If the muscle continues to be stressed, the body will create pain so as to avoid more damage. Once a muscle is inhibited, the central nervous system develops an adaptive strategy to use other muscles or tissues to take on more of the load. This leads to adaptive movement patterns and is called ” recruitment” or “adaptation”. The adapted tissue becomes the next site of injury and the injury/adaptation cycle continues. Eventually, there will be no more muscles for the body to use to adapt. This places more stress on the ligaments and connective tissues and they begin to break down more rapidly, leading to degenerative changes in the joint. Isolated muscle weakness leads to joint instability and restricted range of motion because the body will not allow motion that cannot be stabilized.Muscle tightness restricts motion and is a symptom of neurological inhibition of the antagonist muscles. Flexibility exercises increase range of motion, but do nothing to improve stability. Dr. Dan Volk has been a certified AMIT practitioner for years and is available at Warrior NYC to answer any questions you might have about this technique and its application in our clinic.
